(April 17, 2013- Nashville, Tennessee) – BBB alerts consumers to the operating status of Saf-T-Spa previously located at located at 230 Cumberland Bend, Suite E in Nashville, TN., 877-723-8772, www.saftspa.com.
In Feb 2013, consumers from Alabama and Tennessee began notifying BBB of the difficulty they were encountering when trying to reach the company. Over the past two months, BBB has received over 10 complaints from consumers who spent an average of $10,000 for walk-in tubs and who need the company’s assistance with repairs. Tub owners left messages for the business and were promised returned calls or follow-up appointments to have their tub issues resolved; however, the company failed to follow-up as promised. Specifically, complaints allege:
- Equipment failure such as the tub not properly draining
- Handle of the tub breaking which prevents the door from locking in order to use the tub
- Leaking faucets
- Failure to honor service appointments
- Failure to perform return visits for unsatisfactory service
On April 4, 2013, BBB sent certified correspondence to Joe Guliotta, President of Saf-T-Spa, requesting his immediate cooperation in responding to the unanswered customer complaints that outline a pattern of concern. The company responded to BBB with a letter from their attorney that stated, "This is to advise that Saf-T-Spa is no longer in business and has no assets."
Closing a business does not relieve the owner of his/her obligation to you. BBB suggests contacting the bankruptcy court in the area where the company was located to see if it has filed for bankruptcy. If it has, you should file a claim with the bankruptcy court. As a claimant, you may or may not get all or part of what you are owed. If the company is not in bankruptcy, and you cannot obtain an appropriate settlement from the business, you may wish to seek legal advice for further assistance.
