BBB Secure Your ID Day was a Record Breaker!
On April 20th BBB of Middle Tennessee held its annual Spring Shred Event. We had beautiful weather for this heavily attended event, with more participants than ever.
BBB Secure Your ID Day was promoted throughout Middle Tennessee communities. The event was well advertised through: the BBB website, mailings, email blasts, with posters displayed in local area stores, through TV announcements, and on Kathleen’s radio segment with Ralph Bristol on Supertalk 99.7 Friday morning’s at 7:35am.
We had 6 shred locations across Middle Tennessee, including Nashville, Franklin, Murfreesboro, Cookeville, Tullahoma and our newest location in Lewisburg. More than 1,247 consumers fought ID theft by shredding over 93,523 pounds of documents containing sensitive information. Overall, we destroyed over 46 tons of paper and kept it out of the hands of would-be criminals.
We received a lot of positive feedback. Mr. Wilson Brimm with Southern Trophy called to thank BBB for holding the Shred Event. They were able to get rid of a lot of paper and spring clean. They really appreciated it! People agree this a great service provided to the community at no charge. We also handed out over 1,200 BBB bags with Directories and Identity Theft information.
A special thank you to all 53 volunteers, including our many shredding partners and BBB staff for making this event a huge success!
Please mark your calendars for our next Secure Your ID & Shred Day, Saturday, October 19, 2013.
