Scammers claim to represent DO NOT CALL Registry

02/03/12

Update from Ralph Bristol Morning News - BBB Middle Tennessee can be heard Fridays at 7:35am on the Ralph Bristol Nashville Morning News, WTN 99.7 (FM Radio)

YOU ARE ON THE DO NOT CALL REGISTRY?  THE SCAMMERS DON’T CARE!

ID Scammers are making phony phone calls to Middle TN Consumers claiming to represent the National Do Not Call Registry.

The National Do Not Call Registry gives consumers an opportunity to limit the telemarketing calls they receive.  Once YOU register your phone number, telemarketers covered by the National Do Not Call Registry have up to 31 days from the date the telephone number is registered to stop calling.

LEGITIMATE TELEMARKETING COMPANIES COMPLY WITH THE NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY.
Remember, scammers do not care that you have registered your phone number with the registry.  Scammers break the law and profit from your sense of well being/consumer protection because you are registered on the do not call registry.

Scam telemarketer calls claim to provide an opportunity to sign up for the Registry.
These calls are not coming from the Registry or the Federal Trade Commission

Do not respond to these calls
Do not provide any personal information to callers, NO bank information, NO Social Security Number OR contact information.
If your number is already registered with the Do Not Call Registry, your registration does not expire.

You can verify if and when your number was registered by going to DoNotCall.gov. CLICK on ‘Register a Phone Number”

To add your number to the Registry you can call 888-382-1222 from the phone you wish to register,
